BOTULINUM TOXIN or NEUROTOXIN
WHAT IS NEUROTOXIN?
Neurotoxin is an acetylcholine release inhibitor and neuromuscular blocking agent. This means blocking certain neurological chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract or create lines at rest, and temporarily relaxing the facial muscles that cause wrinkles. This treatment helps reduce the appearance of such wrinkles, resulting in a smoother skin look. When performed by a qualified specialist, Botox does not paralyze the face completely or create an unnatural appearance, rather it gives natural, youthful looking results.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR NEUROTOXIN?
Clients who are 21 years and older are eligible for treatment with neurotoxin. Exceptions include pregnancy, neurological disorders (ex Myasthenia gravis, Guillain–Barré) , allergy to any of the components among others.
If you’re considering neurotoxin and would like more information to determine if toxin is right for you a consultation appointment is recommended.

DURING YOUR TOXIN COSMETIC TREATMENT
Your first neurotoxin appointment will include a consultation to make sure you understand the treatment from beginning to end, positive and possible negative effects, a review of your medical history and personal information, a treatment plan and goals. This may take up to an hour. Thereafter your toxin appointments will likely be shorter. Here’s a detailed list of what to expect from beginning to end of the treatment:
-
You and Erikka will review what was discussed at your consultation appointment including how much botox you will receive, and in which areas. If you have a low threshold for pain topical numbing may be applied but you are to request.
-
Treatment points will be identified and marked. Skin will be cleansed and treatment will begin.
-
Skin will be cleansed once more and post treatment instructions will be discussed.
AFTER YOUR TOXIN COSMETIC TREATMENT
NEUROTOXIN requires minimal downtime or recovery period. Meaning, you’ll be able to resume most of your normal activities immediately after your treatment. Special pre and post treatment instructions are available in your Aesthetic Record porta;. You will also receive them via e-mail.
In rare cases, neuroxin can migrate to other muscles in the body. To avoid this possibility, follow these guidelines:
-
Avoid rubbing the treated areas
-
Do not lie down for four hours following treatment
-
Wait 24 hours to exercise or engage in any strenuous activity
IYou should begin to notice results in the first week following treatment.

If you experience side effects such as a rashes, major swelling, or difficulty breathing and swallowing, seek emergency medical treatment. Severe side effects can indicate a rare but serious allergic reaction. If you have eyelid droop or brow heaviness this is a possible side effects of these treatments. RESULTS OF BOTOX® COSMETIC
The results of neurotoxin on average lasts 3-4 months. Some patients longer and some shorter depending on several factors. For continuous results, schedule treatments at regular intervals with your Erikka. Typically, patients schedule a Botox treatment every three months. It’s important to note that Botox is not a permanent treatment. If you discontinue treatment, your lines and wrinkles will gradually return over time.
